The article , 7 grammar rules you should really pay attention to, by Ben Yagoda proved to
be very beneficial. I had heard all of the rules before, but reading a few of them had me question
whether or not I religiously follow them. I didn't know that the verb to be was changed from was to
were when following a non-true situation. I usually just go with what sounds right.
Mayer wiener.", demonstrates very clearly how a
non-true situation needed to change the word
used to always sing the Oscar Mayer wiener
song and I couldn't remember if the song used were or was.
Other grammar rules that were mentioned were ‘dangling’ conversations and semicolons. I think
I am pretty good about using both correctly, but I know I do occasionally have a few random
mistakes. I think this article is overall very beneficial to those who take the time to read it and apply
the rules.
