Post Number Three: United Nations Millennium Development Goals

       The goal I read about that sparked my interest was goal number 6, COMBAT HIV/AIDS, MALARIA AND OTHER DISEASES. This goal interested me because it really does hit home here in the US. HIV and AIDS information in the past 15 years have hit an all time high. There are commercials, and posters almost everywhere that warn people about the diseases. There isn't one person I know who hasn't heard of these two things. I think the U.S. has done a really good job about putting the information about prevention out there for the public. Because of the wide spread information being administered by most nations there has been a dynastic decline in the two infections, "The number of new HIV infections per 100 adults (aged 15 to 49) declined by 44 per cent between 2001 and 2012." If the United Nations hope to keep the per cent of infections declining they need to do more. Commercials and posters aren't enough. The primary target of those are teens to middle aged adults. The infections are being spread at even younger ages as the years go on Pre-teens and a few years younger than that even, need to be aware of the dangers and the preventions against these two.
